Questions You’ve Always Wanted to Ask a Glasgow Cosmetic Dentist

Talking to a Glasgow Cosmetic Dentist

Recently, the spotlight has been on cosmetic dentistry and the treatments that are growing more popular with each passing day. From teeth whitening to orthodontic procedures, dental treatments are hugely popular nowadays. So we decided, who better to speak to than a Glasgow cosmetic dentist? The cosmetic dentists are at the heart of all of this so they can give us some insight into their day-to-day and the cosmetic dentistry trend.

Read on to find out more about the dental market today, from the point of view of one Glasgow cosmetic dentist.

What got you into cosmetic dentistry?

When I first started out, I didn’t actually have any intention of becoming a Glasgow cosmetic dentist. I finished up at dental school and worked my way up within a local practice, and realised I had a flare for cosmetic treatments in particular. I began to specialise in these types of treatments for my patients, before finally opening a clinic of my own specifically for cosmetic dentistry.

Do you judge people on their dental hygiene?

[laughs]

People I know actually ask me this question a lot. On the whole, we usually don’t judge. However, I’ve had a few cases where people have still had food in their teeth and generally rather bad cases of halitosis, and I’ll admit I’ve had a couple of possibly judgemental thoughts. However, I don’t really mind either way. I’d just always recommend using mouthwash or even just chewing gum before a visit to your Glasgow cosmetic dentist.

What’s the worst thing a patient can do in an appointment?

The worst thing you can do? Hm, probably similar to your previous question, and have bad breath. Especially with cosmetic dentistry, when you have to be working in and around the mouth for prolonged periods of time. Other than that, I would say things like fidgeting but this usually goes away for cosmetic treatments when individuals have been numbed.

What is the number one thing people are asking for?

As a Glasgow cosmetic dentist, the one thing I have seen a huge rise in demand for is teeth whitening. Loads of people are trying to turn to online quick-fixes, but there is still a steady stream of individuals coming into the clinic for our teeth whitening treatments. After that it’s probably some form of clear braces or orthodontic treatment for folk who missed out on braces as a teenager.

Do you recommend teeth whitening?

If it’s done by a Glasgow cosmetic dentist, then I don’t see why you shouldn’t have teeth whitening treatment. It can help self-esteem and encourage you to take better care of your teeth. However, it’s worth noting that you should be extra careful with your teeth after having had treatment as it may weaken your enamel.
